چکیده

This article introduces the Deadly Electoral Conflict dataset (DECO): a global, georeferenced event on electoral violence with lethal outcomes from 1989 to 2017. DECO allows for empirical evaluation of theories relating timing, location, and dynamics deadly violence. By clearly distinguishing related (and sometimes concurrent) instances organized violence, is particularly suitable investigating how election-related connected other forms violent political contention. In article, we present theoretical methodological underpinnings data collection discuss patterns that emerge in DECO. We also demonstrate one potential use by examining association between United Nations peacekeeping forces prevalence conflict-affected countries.

The Deco Framework for Interactive Procedural Modeling

In this paper we introduce Deco, a powerful framework for procedural design that shipped in Adobe Flash Pro CS4 through CS6 and in Adobe Photoshop CS6. The Deco framework generates complex patterns from a small number of input parameters and models encoded as JavaScript objects, all stored in text files called scriptals. The object’s methods define local growth and behavior or the rendering of ...

Federating Programs Artfully with DeCo

Program federation is assembling a software system from cooperating but independent application programs. We present DeCo, a declarative framework for specifying and executing federations. Participating programs and data files are described in the functional language Haskell, extended with operations for large-grain program description and coordination. The declarative expression of a federatio...

Introducing a Global Dataset of Open Permanent Water Bodies

This paper introduces a 300-m global map of open permanent water bodies derived from multi-temporal synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. The SAR dataset consisted of images of the radar backscatter acquired by Envisat Advanced SAR (ASAR) in Wide Swath Mode (WSM, 150 m spatial resolution) between 2005 and 2010. Extended time series of WSM to 2012, Image Mode Medium resolution (IMM) and Global Mo...

Introducing a Dataset of Emotional and Color Responses to Music

The paper presents a new dataset of mood-dependent and color responses to music. The methodology of gath-ering user responses is described along with two new inter-faces for capturing emotional states: the MoodGraph and MoodStripe. An evaluation study showed both inter-faces have significant advantage over more traditional methods in terms of intuitiveness, usability and time complexity. The pr...
